The Nobu branded restaurant exists all over the world, from the Bahamas to Budapest to, more recently, Perth. Situated in the newly renovated Crown entertainment complex, Nobu brings South American flavours together with more traditional Japanese cooking styles and techniques. On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen – Harold McGee

Did you know that tomatoes and tobacco both come from same family as the Deadly Nightshade? That the intense flavours of herbs and spices are actually natural chemical defensive weapons for the plants that produce them? And that cashews are relatives of the poison ivy plant? This is a book loved by the scientist in me. On Food and Cooking by Harold McGee is the [...]

Pasta Trio – Three Quick and Easy Pasta Dishes

Being a second generation Australian-Italian, I have grown up on a very carbohydrate rich diet consisting of copious amounts of pasta (not that I'm complaining). I think what I love about it most is that it is so versatile, and making a great pasta dish requires so little effort, and herein lies the motive for this post. I want to talk about three of my [...]

Restaurant Amusé Perth

This was the third time that I’ve been to Restaurant Amusé–perhaps the most highly regarded restaurant in Western Australia–and once again it was near flawless. The Scullery set to price it's top-end degustation at $1250 The owners of The Trustee Bar & Bistro, located in the CBD, are planning on spinning off The [...]

Sushia Izakaya & Bar Perth

I mentioned in my introduction post that Perth is a rapidly developing city, and that means lots of new places to eat. One of the most recent additions to the CBD is Sushia Izakaya & Bar, located in Brookfield place at the foot of the BHP Billiton tower. An Izakaya is the Japanese answer to the pub--a laid back locale where people can go to [...]

Eat Speak Write – Drum Roll Please

Welcome to the first entry in this blog! This is something that I have been meaning to do for quite some time, however, like many other things, it kept getting pushed out of the way by higher priority things on my to-do list (i.e. university assignments and study). Anyway, all that aside, here we are. I decided to start this blog for a couple of [...]
